II needed to make a whole bunch of cards recently, knowing that my studio space was going to be out of commission for a while. (As an aside – it’s getting there. Walls have been painted, floor install is starting. Once that is done we need to buy, paint and install trim and it will be done. A couple of weeks at the most I hope. I am starting to go a little crazy not being able to get at anything.)
I have added these to the gallery, but here are a few of my favourites.

We went to Ikea and the PB Outlet to get some cabinets and work surfaces for the studio. It’s almost done!!! Patience is a virtue I do not have.
Just wanted to send a big “hi!” out to all the people that stopped by to visit the site through the Stitch Diva Studio’s facebook page. Thanks for visiting, I hope you can stick around. There sure were a lot of you! My site stats went nuts can I couldn’t figure out why until I logged onto facebook and saw that SDS had linked my last post. I really appreciate the shout out!
I have uploaded a whole whack (and I really do mean a whack) of photos from my trip to Sint Maarten/Saint Martin on the “Photos” page above. You can click on any of the photos to get a bigger version that includes a caption, and then you can click the little arrows to move through all the the shots. For my family and friends, make sure you check out all 5 pages! (there are little numbers on the bottom of the page below the small photos that will allows you to change pages).
A friend suggested that I take my wedding shawl with me for the trip. For those of you who haven’t been reading for 5 years – I married my husband in Barbados and knit myself a shawl to wear. So I took it out of it’s carefully stored spot, packed it up, and wore it for a fancy dinner we had at the resort.
I am happy to say it looks just like new still. I think I need more trips to the islands so I can wear it more.
I also bought a really cool little sewing doll while I was down there. One of very few souvenirs I purchased.
She will take up a special spot in the studio when it is all finished.
How could it possibly be May 5th? Did I enter some kind of time warp? I can’t believe it has been almost a month since I last posted – I’m sorry!
It’s not that I have been tied up with terrible stresses or buried under a mountain of problems, it has been quite the opposite. My sweetie husband was awarded a “Values Award” with his company, and we got to take a week long trip to St. Marteen. We had a wonderful time and I will definitely be posting some pictures of that soon. This past week my inlaws were here and construction began on my studio. That’s right, I am going to have walls and a floor down there! I am so excited! I will be more excited when we are done the mudding and sanding on the drywall, but it is going to look great. Progress pictures of that are coming soon too.
But today I wanted to show you my latest finished object. Natasha at Unplanned Peacock had 4 balls of her DK superwash that were a one off colour. And it just happened to be the most gorgeous group of purples. So I decided to make the Endless Cardi Shawl from Stitch Diva.
This is a really ingenious piece that has simple knitting but an awesome way of binding off to create the shape. And there are so many different ways to wear it.
This is the back of the two styles above:
I had a look at the 4 balls of yarn and knit them such that the centre of the sweater was going to be the lightest. I really like the y-shape that it created.
You can flip the entire thing over to create a whole different look.
Which also creates a whole different look on the back, more like a shrug.
I love how the yarn worked up – not a single pill, split or weirdness, and it drapes wonderfully now that it has been blocked. I can see that I am going to get a lot of use out of this cardi.
